Artist Talk — Jason Pollen

December 8, 2023 By info@leedy-voulkos.com

Artist Statement

I have been drawing, painting, collaging, designing, and stitching since childhood. Elaborate sand castles were the first source of inspiration.

My art journey has been characterized by experimentation with process and materials and the search for a compelling communicative visual language. I have often felt as if I were a witness, watching my hands create something from nothing, then compelled to breathe as much life as possible into whatever has revealed itself.

Collage Mobile Workshop

December 8, 2023 By info@leedy-voulkos.com

The Collage Mobile Workshop, will take place at Leedy-Voulkos Art Center from 11:00am to 1:00pm, followed by an Artist Talk at 2:00pm (free and open to the public) on Saturday January 13th, 2024.

During the 2‑hour workshop, you will be creating a mobile using pre-cut shapes that Jason will be providing. You will be working with a variety of materials, such as paper, markers, colored pencils, and pigments in order to create the surface for each one of your mobile shapes. The aim is to develop a personal visual language. Jason will share his unique approach to creating vibrant, communicative mobiles such as the ones in his Whimsy Wall installation. You will learn how to intuitively combine different textures, colors, and patterns to create your own unique mobile. We hope that by the end of the class, you will have a finished mobile that you can take home with you.

There is no experience needed to take this class.
