Coyote Bill Band Live at Border Brewing Company

February 3, 2022 By eric@borderbrewco.com

The roots of the Coyote Bill Boogie Band are in the Chicago area, but this group has been a staple in the Kansas City music scene since 2007.

Since the summer of that year, Coyote Bill has been serving up his own brand of high energy, slide-guitar driven Gutbucket Blues and House Rockin’ Boogie all over the KC Metro anywhere and everywhere he can. From upscale clubs and restaurants to rough-and-tumble biker bars and rural roadhouses. On any given night one may find the Coyote Bill Boogie Band performing in the swanky surroundings of Zona Rosa or an inner city warehouse for homeless people.

The band performs a blend of originals and covers, but manages to retain a distinct signature sound in everything they play. Coyote Bill occasionally performs as a solo act, but his solo performances are equally as raucous and energetic.

In recent years Coyote Bill and his crew have expanded their base to other cities in the region from Topeka KS, to St. Joseph MO, all the way to Springfield MO, and they are looking forward to expanding even further in the future. Coyote Bill has been a supporter of C.O.P.P. Inc, an organization that helps Kansas City’s homeless community. He has played their Winter Survival Event several times since 2008 and the band has organized an annual clothing drive and fundraiser for the organization that they have been doing since 2010.

The Coyote Bill Boogie Band have been nominated for the Pitch Music Award for Best Blues Band in 2010 and 2012, and have twice performed at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas. In addition to performing, Coyote Bill is also a reporter writing about the Kansas City Blues scene for Big City Blues Magazine as well as the KC Blues News.

David Loving Live at Border Brewing Company

February 3, 2022 By eric@borderbrewco.com

David Loving is an independent singer-songwriter and producer based in Southeast Kansas. He has been playing acoustic guitar for more than twenty years starting with jam sessions at family gatherings. He began writing and performing his own songs soon afterward. David’s music blends influences from classic singer-songwriters such as James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, and Jackson Browne with modern performers such as The Avett Brothers, The Lumineers and Dawes.

In November 2021, David released his second full-length album, titled “Travelers,” which included popular singles “A Train that Never Came” and “A Darker Piece of Sky.” The songs on the album all tell stories of people going on journeys and finding their way back home after many trials and travails. It closes with David’s rendition of the classic American gospel tune “The Wayfaring Stranger.”

David’s second album, “Milltown Requiem,” released in February 2021, is a collection of songs telling stories of people in a struggling small town in Middle America dealing with failing relationships, factory closures, job loss, drug addiction, and other challenges. Popular singles “Honest and Innocent” and “Breakaway” deal with the mixed emotions of leaving home for the first time.

David lives in Southeast Kansas with his wife and two dogs. He is available for performances at coffee shops, pubs, wineries, living rooms, and anywhere else.

February 3, 2022 By eric@borderbrewco.com

Andrew Hoyt is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Des Moines IA, one of the most creative and culturally aware cities in the Midwest. His passion and drive demand that he is creative every single day, this gift he doesn’t keep to himself, but as a K‑5 vocal music teacher he is guiding and inspiring future generations.

Andrew believes that arts education of every kind is vital to a well rounded education. His favored instrument is the ukulele, specifically the Hawaiian KoAloha brand, the premiere ukulele manufacturer in the world who sponsors him by providing him with their first class instruments.

With other musicians and in classic studio settings Andrew records tracks that reflect his easy style and approachable personality. He is only too happy to give thanks and accolades to his musical inspirations including John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and James Taylor among others.

Recently signed to Indie label Golden Bear Records, home of The Well Pennies, he is tireless in his pursuit of creating a long lasting and sustainable music career both domestically and internationally. Keep your eyes on this emerging artist, there are many great things to come.

Wade D. Brown Live at Border Brewing Company

February 3, 2022 By eric@borderbrewco.com

What if Woody Guthrie and Leon Redbone had a family, together, with kids named Tom Waits, JJ Cale, Dave Van Ronk, and Dean Moriarty? If this had happened, Wade D. Brown would have been the weird little neighbor kid that always hung out at their house.

Wade D. Brown grew up in small town rural Kansas and describes having a “dreamers disease” from a very young age. He quotes Kerouac, Woody Guthrie, and Emerson for developing his curiosity about being a “life long freedom seeker.” The notion of “self obtained freedom” is the central issue at the heart of Wade D. Brown’s music.

With primary influences from pre-war delta and ragtime blues, medicine show music, bluegrass, vaudeville, and country folk, Wade D. Brown’s unique phrasing and picking style presents the listener with a contrast of light and dark themes. Songs like Home Country Pie and Summer Bliss paint pictures of simple happiness, while songs such as Old Habits and Paper Cups evoke a sense of complex loneliness. Wade D. Brown says that his goal as a songwriter is to “use music rooted in traditional forms with a poetic lyric to create an original sound that challenges the listener emotionally and conceptually.”

Wade D. Brown is currently working on his 2nd album, “Domesticated Cowboys,” coming soon.
