KC Beer Community for Reproductive Rights

July 14, 2022 By kyle@oakandsteelkc.com

One of the things I love the most about the beer industry is how inclusive and kind the people are. When I reached out to my friends at many of the local breweries, I received an overwhelming and immediate response. “We’re In! Let us know how we can help.”

We are hosting a fundraising event to benefit the Missouri Abortion Fund. From open to close that day, all profits will be donated to the Fund. Our brewery friends and partners will be contributing kegs to make sure all money spent is going direct to the charity. We will also host a silent auction with merchandise and gift cards from local breweries along with a raffle for rare beer and whiskeys.

Food will be provided by Tina’s Trucks and a portion of their proceeds are being donated as well.

Weddings Unveiled Kansas City

June 28, 2022 By party@union.828venues.com

About this event

WEDDINGS UNVEILED IS A WEDDING SHOW EXPERIENCE UNLIKE ANY OTHER IN TOWN — WHERE ENGAGED COUPLES ENJOY AN UP-SCALE, AND INTIMATE ATMOSPHERE WHERE EDUCATIONAL AND INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS ARE PROVIDED BY KANSAS CITY’S FINEST WEDDING VENDORS.

WEDDINGS UNVEILED KC:

Weddings Unveiled helps engaged couples plan for their wedding. The boutique wedding show, produced by Wed KC, features Kansas City’s most reputable wedding professionals and provides an innovative opportunity for couples to meet local wedding businesses through a variety of educational or interactive experiences. It is the only event in town that solely focuses on what YOU are truly craving from a wedding show — a fun and memorable experience!

THE EXPERIENCE

Instead of being rushed and overwhelmed by the size and impersonal experience of a large wedding show, we at Wed provide you with an enjoyable bridal show experience. Each wedding vendor at the show either provides you an interactive element (flower bar, taste-testing, or engagement ring selfie station to name a few) or something educational (one-on-one with a wedding planner, timeline advice, honeymoon checklist, etc.). So, while you are meeting some of the finest vendors in town available for your wedding, you are also gaining some of their industry knowledge!

THE VENDORS

Weddings Unveiled is built for couples that are looking to engage with wedding professionals to find their day-of dream team. And if you happen to have some vendors in place, that is fine too, because you can still gain their industry knowledge through the educational/interactive elements. The vendors are hand-picked for the show based on their talent, professionalism, and experience, so a room full of advice from these pros is certainly an engaged couple’s dream!

TICKETS

To preserve the intimate boutique wedding show experience, tickets are limited. Admittance to the Weddings Unveiled wedding show is $12.00 a person and includes the following:

• A grab-bag of goodies for each engaged couple or group.

• A drink ticket for each attendee that can be used towards champagne, wine, or beer.

• Delicious tastings of specialized appetizers and desserts.

• Opportunity to win prizes and vendor giveaways every hour.

• And of course, 4 hours of time to enjoy the unique interactive bridal show experience, that helps you find wedding professionals and advice for planning your big day!

Between The Branches: Artist Talk with Claire McConaughy

June 27, 2022 By Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art

Claire McConaughy’s works are a combination of elements that make poetic moments connected to the present and past. Her paintings are reactions to the process of painting and the history of landscape. Using a combination of painted passages and fluidly drawn lines her process allows for a variety of marks and layering of imagery with shapes giving way to lines and interlacing of imagery. The layers and use of color in her paintings create spatial tensions and surprising metaphors. These works continue in the lineage of landscape painting, and also come from McConaughy’s early experiences in rural mountain woods and life in New York City.

McConaughy is a painter who lives and works in New York. She earned her MFA in painting from Columbia University and her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. She has exhibited in galleries including “Selections 45” at The Drawing Center, “not so far away” at The Painting Center, “Persona” at the Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery, College of St. Elizabeth, “Eleven Women of Spirit” at Zürcher Gallery and others. She received a Ucross Foundation Residency and Santa Fe Art Institute Artist’s Residency. Her work has been reviewed in artcritical, White Hot Magazine, Hamptons Art Hub and other publications.

For over a decade McConaughy was on the staff of New Observations Magazine, a non-profit art journal. McConaughy is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Bergen Community College. Her experience as an educator includes adjunct teaching at the School of Visual Arts and Marymount Manhattan College.
