THURSDAY NIGHT ARTS
Friday Night Arts is back, but now even better!
New name, new day of the week and FREE!
Tune in with ArtsKC and KC Crew every Thursday evening for the months of February and March to hear from 4 different local Kansas City artists and musicians directly from their home studios. This is your chance to get intimate with all your favorite locals. Listen to the stories behind their work and see exclusive pieces they’ve never shared. You can ask questions and interact directly with the artists during the program, and better yet, purchase works right there on the spot. A new artist goes live every 30 minutes so tune in for your favorites or stay to see them all!
As the pandemic has impacted artists and arts organizations across the country, ArtsKC and their partners have prioritized supporting artists through innovative programming. This program bridges the gap between community members and creatives during isolation by offering free space where talents can be showcased and audience members can engage with artists and the arts.
“Right now, many of us want to attend in-person events, but the risk is just too great. We want to make sure we are still providing our community with an opportunity to stay connected while still hard to convene in large groups. Similarly, we are trying to provide artists with an opportunity to continue showcasing their art, receive monetary support, and be involved,” said ArtsKC CEO and President, Dana Knapp.
ArtsKC and KC Crew’s efforts are supported by grants from Evergy and The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Thanks to their support, participating artists are paid for their time, and the program is funded for its current duration.
Arie Monroe, a caricature and comic book artist, participated in a recent Thursday Night Arts showcase. “It was a wonderful experience, and it was great to learn about all the amazing creators’ areas that I had no idea were here. Learning their story and seeing how their work is impacting others was such a treasure. Being allowed to talk about and share my own unique abilities with others was a great experience. Thank you so much for providing this wonderful platform,” said Monroe.
Tonight’s featured artists include Ryan Wilks, Vania Soto, Lee Langston, and Vincent Orsolini.
How It Works:
- Each featured artist will have “the stage” for 30 minutes. They will talk about their work and let you ask any questions.
- Art may be purchased at any time throughout the evening.
- Do you love the artist, but not ready to fully commit – no worries, you can still support them by donating! Just ask them how.
What You Need:
- We will go live from Zoom (download the app ahead of time)
- A computer, phone or tablet to join the Zoom
- Your thinking skills and useless knowledge!
- Feel free to pour yourself a beverage!
