Join Jonathan Christensen Caballero for an artist talk on Friday, August 6 at 7 PM at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery.

Jonathan Christensen Caballero’s exhibition La Gente/The People, on view in the Gallery, explores themes of race, class, familial ties, and labor issues. Jonathan will discuss the inspiration and multiple layers of meaning in his work, and the technical aspects and materials used to create his life-sized, mixed-media sculptures.

Named one of Ceramic Monthly’s 2021 Emerging Artists, Jonathan Christensen Caballero was recently selected as a 2021 – 2022 artist in residence at the Lawrence Arts Center. Born and raised in Utah, he graduated from Utah State University with a BFA in ceramics and sculpture and completed his MFA in ceramics from Indiana University in the spring of 2020. Jonathan is also a recipient of the International Sculpture Center Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award and was previously the Interdisciplinary Ceramic Research Center (ICRX) Artist in Residence at Kansas University in Lawrence.

This presentation is free and open to the public. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided. Please visit our website to register and for our most updated COVID-19 safety measures.
