For the past ten years, Four Chapter Gallery has enjoyed a partnership with the Kansas City Art Institute Fiber Department, and each May exhibit the work of a graduating senior.

Visit the gallery to join us in this wonderful opportunity to celebrate and support a young artist who is on the cusp of transition into a new phase of life.

Sarah McMurry explores the quilt and the bounds of its function in her senior show, In Tandem. Historically the quilt has been defined as three layers of cloth held together by stitching. The quilt often functions as a means of strength, protection, and warmth. By sometimes removing the traditional materials associated with it, McMurry invites the viewer to redefine not just their understanding of these heirloom objects, but what it means to be strong.

There will be a reception on Friday, May 1, from 5:30 – 9pm, with an artist talk at 6:30pm.
