Chromatic Reverie marks the culmination of a year-long artistic exploration by KC Clay Guild’s three Artists in Residence: Allison Achtenhagen, Huey Lee, and Izanna Perry. Join us on this journey through color, form and narrative

Achtenhagen’s work begins on the potter’s wheel and is then transformed by combining, altering and piercing each piece. She strives to create pieces that are resolved and highly considered which makes them almost mechanical at first. She then finds ways to soften the pieces, physically or with glaze, to come to a piece that is both mechanical and human.

Lee’s work brings forth narratives steeped in cultural heritage, religious influences, and the bittersweet taste of nostalgia. His drawings and sculptures are vibrant visual diaries that capture a spectrum of emotions. Using whimsical humor and found objects, Lee crafts characters that navigate between strength and vulnerability, reflecting his ongoing exploration of identity.

Perry’s sculptures explore the connection between the human body, the emotions within, and how they overflow into the physical world. She utilizes organic forms and shapes in her work that take on the role of a body and a home simultaneously, because a body is the only constant home we have.

And don’t miss the Clay & Wood United-Sale & Exhibition at the KC Woodworkers’ Guild, 1717 Washington, 5:00pm‑9:00pm! Two local non-profits dedicated to craft and education!
