Convos Around the Dinner Table is Gallery Athanor and Vulpes Bastille’s second annual undergraduate exhibition featuring 80 students from 7 regional universities.
Through an open call to undergraduate students, the exhibition is an exciting showcase of the next generation of artistic talent. Collaborative conversations curated by Tanith K of Gallery Athanor reveal the creativity and vision of student artists from seven colleges and universities across the metropolitan area.
At Vulpes Bastille, an expansive, large group exhibition explores four conversation topics: Autonomy, Life under Harmful Systems, Memory, and Home.
A smaller curated exhibition titled Blue Plate Special will take place at Gallery Athanor featuring the work of current Juniors and Seniors.
Each artwork represents a young artist engaging and reflecting on their rapidly changing world. The show provides a platform and introduction of each artist, while simultaneously bringing them together in conversation. Their fresh perspectives shed new light on undercurrents shaping our society and its future.
“We’re thrilled to offer these emerging artists a platform to present their work and introduce them to the greater KC arts community.” curator Tanith K said. “Undergrads tend to be overlooked since they are so fresh in their art career. Despite their inexperience, their work adds important voices to the cultural conversation and we are remiss to exclude them.”
There will be a reception at Vulpes Bastille on Friday, April 3 and a reception at Gallery Athanor on Saturday, April 4. Please join us for an afternoon of artist talks on Sunday, April 19 from (1 – 3 PM) at Vulpes Bastille (1737 Locust St, Kansas City, MO 64108).
