Featuring guest favorite popular baby paint crawl, a street art showcase, community clay mosaics, a recycled jewelry workshop, papermaking, splatter murals, a scavenger hunt with a chance to win BLICK art materials and more!

    Art in the City Schedule:

11:00 am — 12:00 pm Baby Paint Crawl
    Location: PNC Learning Lab
During our Baby Paint Crawl, Science City’s PNC classroom is transformed into a blank canvas for our youngest artists to unleash their creativity, explore with their senses and get messy as they create with non-toxic paint! Parent attendance and participation is required.

11:00 am — 3:00 pm Street Art Showcase
    Location: Maze Park
Watch local street artist DINKC showcase his skills throughout the day as he works on a large scale mural inspired by Science City and Kansas City in his own unique style.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm Community Clay Mosaics
    Location: Maze Park
Join local artist Caroline Meek with EPIC Clay Studio, as you underglaze your very own clay tile, and watch their live wheel throwing demonstration!

11:00 am — 3:00 pm Recycled Jewelry Workshop
    Location: Maze Park
Work alongside Madison Shaughnessy as you learn how to take earrings, necklaces, bracelets or keychains and attach a charm of your choice to them!

    11:00 am & 1:00 pm Paper Pouring
    Location: Creative Corner
Work with Kelsey Pike from Cherry Pit Collective as you take part in this wet and messy papermaking class. In this hands-on activity you’ll make an art piece by curating the shaped stencils to create beautiful patterning and pouring colored pulp in the open areas.

11:00 am — 3:00 pm Rearranging your Environment
    Location: Simple Machines at Play
Work cooperatively to create an ever evolving temporal work of art with large sticks, rocks and bark. This art project is inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, a famous English sculptor and photographer, known for his ephemeral and naturalistic works of art. The sculpture that guests are making will evolve and change throughout the day.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm Science City Splatter Mural
    Location: Tapped Out Classroom
Guests will get to use some fun painting tools to make a memorable mess (with washable paint) on a large canvas. Make your mark and collaborate with other guests in Science City! Aprons will be provided.

11:00 am — 3:00 pm Hunt for the Golden Paintbrush
    Location: Throughout Science City
Search high and low throughout Science City as you compete in this scavenger hunt. Guests that finish will be entered to win art supplies from BLICK Art Materials.
