How do I get to the Crossroads?
Centrally located south of the Downtown Loop and north of Crown Center and Union Station, you can either drive, bike or take the bus to the heart of the Crossroads. See our Visitor Info page for more information.
Where do I park in the Crossroads?
There are many parking options in the Crossroads but during First Friday, those who arrive a bit earlier have a better chance at finding street parking. There are a number of lot options around the community or you could park at nearby Crown Center and either walk or take a short ride into the midst of all the fun! See our Visitor Info page for parking maps and more information.
What do I need to do to exhibit my artwork on First Friday?
If you would like to show your work during First Friday, there is no vendor fee and you are more than welcome to set up a tent, table or booth during the event; however, wherever you set up, you should do your best to obtain permission from the property or parking lot owner. Also, you should in no way obstruct the sidewalk or be a barrier to other entities. You will find most property and store owners very positive about letting you have a presence during the event.
If you would like to approach a gallery or business entity to see if they could give you space for the evening or maybe even longer, you will find many open to your request. Please check out our your options on our website. If you are unfamiliar with First Friday, we suggest you attend one first to determine which location would best suit your needs and work.
What if I would like to perform with my band?
If you would like to perform with your band, you should also be respectful of both your sound level and the hours you plan on performing (also remember, this is a family-friendly event, so if your lyrics are of a more adult nature, you should consider saving those songs for later in the evening). Again, most property and store owners are very positive about letting artists have a presence during the event, but please review your options prior to your actual performance … that way you will be able to most closely match your band to the area.
What if I would like to provide a culinary specialty?
If you would like to provide food for the event, there is a food truck lot at the Kansas City Star; however, you are more than welcome to setup throughout the neighborhood as long as you receive permission from whoever you set up in front of, do not block the public right of way, and pick up before you head out. Also be sure that you have your food vendor’s license. Please click here for additional information on what may be required.
