Scott Reynolds is a photographer specializing in minimalist Midwestern landscape scenes, as well as the Colorado Rocky mountains, California wine country, U.S. cities and Europe. This showing comes immediately after a full season of juried shows, ranging from Kansas City’s own Brookside Art Annual and Art Westport to multiple events in Colorado, St. Louis and Iowa.
From the artist:
The Midwestern landscape is simplistically beautiful, yet desolate and harsh. I aspire to capture the moods of the region in which I live through solo adventures that enable me to experience the subjects without distraction. To bring balance and inspiration to my work and time, I also shoot locations around the country and abroad. I have a humble fascination with the world, be it just outside my door or far away, and I want to share the feelings that the settings evoke in me.
I use traditional techniques to capture scenes and modern technology to get them from raw image to print ready. A large variety of lenses and filters accommodate different shooting situations, and in post production, my final vision is executed; often times by muting colors to match the sense of solitude and wonder that I felt while taking the photograph.
