Join us for an evening of art with the Plein Air KC artists!
Artists will paint scenes of Kansas City’s iconic Penn Valley Park from May 5 – May 13. Liberty Memorial, The Scout, Pioneer Monuments, the lake, woods, paths and downtown views are all in the park and will be displayed through original artwork in our gallery on May 13th.
Plein Air, meaning “in the open air,” is a form of art created outdoors. Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of the studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the natural landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. They deviated from the rules of art and headed outdoors to paint sunshine and natural light.
Join the party on May 13th! Enjoy delicious food provided by McGonigles, enjoy a few ice-cold Boulevard beers or a glass of wine while choosing your favorite pieces of art!
Tickets are just $20 and benefit Penn Valley Park Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing this historical park. We can’t wait to see you there!
