Husband and wife team, Jake and Julie Bond, have created a business based on bringing unique ceramic designs into the lives of their customers. Each personalized work of ceramic art is created to fit their specific needs … ranging from whimsical mugs to unique salad bowls to hand carved tile for an entire kitchen. Their work is created using a wide range of original colors and patterns, “What makes our colors so unique is the depth that comes from high fire reduction glazes. These glazes produce colors and brilliance that can not be achieved at lower temperatures or with commercial glazes. Each piece of tile that we create is hand made and individually glazed. This makes each piece unique, whether it is a 4″ flat tile or a curving carved spiral.”
Jake and Julie’s pottery is rooted in it’s functionality, transforming the everyday item in to a work of art, “the majority of our work is thrown out of a white stoneware on the potter’s wheel. Our glazing techniques are influenced by the geometry of the natural world and our interaction within it.”
Julie graduated from the KCAI with her BFA in ceramics. At the same time, Jake was earning his art degree from Doane College in Crete, NE.
Archival Design studio has been in business since the fall of 2001.
