The Rabbit Hole, in association with The Kansas City Public Library and
Crossroads Charter Schools, is proud to launch LitFestKC, an annual children’s literature festival in downtown Kansas City. This two-day event, scheduled for April 28-29, aims to inspire readers of all ages and provide a dynamic platform for new and established children’s book authors. Inaugural LitFestKC presenters representsome of the most powerful and exciting voices in contemporary children’s literature.
Presenters include the nation’s first National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature – Jon Scieszka – along with 2016 Caldecott Medal winner Sophie Blackall, John Bemelmans Marciano, Nina Crews, Shane Evans, Brian Selznick, and 2017 Coretta Scott King Award and Caldecott Medal winner Javaka Steptoe. On April 28, over 1200 1st – 6th grade students from across the metro will attend Kids Day at the Central Library and Crossroads Academy. Each child will hear two author presentations and take home a signed book. To inquire about a very limited number of remaining Kids Day tickets, please call 816.492.7915.
The evening of April 28, the public is invited to a free book signing from 5 – 6:30 pm at The Rabbit hOle Workshop (110 Southwest Blvd). All seven LitFestKC presenters will be in attendance to meet fans and sign their books! Books will be available for purchase at the event and visitors are asked to bring no more than 2 books from home.
After the signing, The Rabbit hOle will host a ticketed VIP Author Reception at 7:00 pm. Guests will meet authors and enjoy a progressive evening starting at Weinberger Fine Art with fabulous dinner catered by festival sponsor Lidia’s KC, and ending the night next-door at The Rabbit hOle Workshop with cocktails and dessert.
